Eyes, Ears, Nose and Paws: A Man's Second Chance
Just off of Old NC 86 Highway in Hillsborough, is an ordinary little house with an extraordinary story: Eyes, Ears, Nose and Paws. Their business card reads, "We teach incarcerated men to train service dogs for people with disabilities," and it is all that and more. At EENP, a dog is a marvelous creature that molds and warms the lives of all kinds of people from different walks of life, where a dog's purpose is not just being a man's best friend, but also being a man's second chance--for everyone.
At EENP, everyone is family: the founders, Deb Cunningham and Maria Ikenberry, the Client Services Specialist, Hanna Baum, the Young Puppy Trainers, the voluntary staff and all the people who make this journey possible together. With smiles and laughter at the office all year around, it's not hard to see how these dogs, raised with such compassion and love, should not spread this energy out in the world with ease.
